Costumes Beginning with T

Tweety Pie CostumeIf you’re looking for costumes beginning with T then you’ve come to the right place.  I have classic ‘T’ costumes like Tarzan or the Tin Man through to a game of Twister costume and more. I particularly like the idea of dressing up as a Tea Bag as I have affectionately been known as the old tea bag due to my love of tea!

This page, along with a number of others, has been compiled as a resource page for anyone who’s been invited to an alphabet party. I used to get invited to a lot of alphabet parties when I was in my 20s and I think it’s high time they caught on again! In a nutshell you have to dress up as something beginning with a particular letter and if you’re on this webpage then the letter chosen is the letter T! I have other webpages available that cover the rest of the letters of the alphabet, but let’s look at costumes beginning with T right now.

Flapper Costume Ideas – Pictures of Flappers

Flapper Costume Party Time

Photo Credits ChairWomanMay | vivevans | Chip York Photography

Don’t the people in these photos look like they’re having fun? Whenever I see images of the roaring 20s I always imagine that it would be fun (of course only for people with a little money, but in my imagination that’s me!) – I would love to drive fast in a convertible, drink champagne out of champagne saucers (forget about flutes) and wear some of the gorgeous flapper dresses – with beads of course!

I don’t have a time machine to go back and see if it really is fun, but I do have the resources on this page for us all to dress up as flappers and then the onus of having fun is all on you!

1920s Flapper Costumes in Black

Flappers wore lots of different colors from silver to black, red to white and much more so let’s look at some of the black Flapper costumes that you can buy –

Women’s Flapper Dress – 1920s Gatsby Full Fringed Cocktail Dress

This is an absolutely gorgeous Gatsby inspired cocktail dress in black with gorgeous gold deco inspired beads, sequins and embroidery.

The fringed bottom of the dress moves exquisitely when you’re dancing.  This black flapper dress + the Charleston = sexy – it’s all about the way the fringe emphasizes your legs as you move to the music!

I would definitely invest in a black boa to wear with this dress and a long cigarette holder would look great as you’re sipping on Champagne cocktails between dancing the night away!

If that costume didn’t take your fancy then check out these other black Flapper dresses

Roaring 20’s Flapper Costume

This flapper dress is not only black, but it’s sequined which means that the dress will actually appear to shimmer as you dance and the tasseled skirt of the dress will flare out beautifully – definitely a flattering look.

If this isn’t the flapper dress for you then we have an even more sophisticated black flapper dress to choose from below.

Glamour Flapper Costume – X-Small – Dress Size 0-2

This black flapper dress seems even more sophisticated than many of the other dresses available.

It makes me think that the person who wore it would be a high society gal who was rebelling against her family and trying to be a ‘ragtime girl’, hanging out with all of the wrong people – smoking way too much and sipping Champagne cocktails like they were going out of fashion!

This costume has the look of someone on a mission and I think the look of it makes quite a statement with the long, diagonal skirt of the dress hinting at gorgeous legs as opposed to some of the shorter styles available.

flapper girls

Flappers were the name given to young ladies during the 20s who decided to buck their parent’s ideas of tradition and bob their hair, wear shorter skirts and basically have what they would have referred to as a ‘gay old time’. In other words they partied – they drank and smoked and generally lived life as carefree as they could be.

They also flouted the social norms of the time regarding sex which is probably why flapper costumes are often seen as a sexy Halloween costume to wear 🙂

Silver Flapper Dress Costumes

These sizzling silver flapper dresses are awesome and I think silver goes really well with the Champagne cocktails and topless sports cars that we think of when we think of the roaring 20s.

These flappers certainly do look like they know how to enjoy themselves and I think it would be very easy to dance the night away in these outfits whether you’ve learned to do the Charleston to really look the part or whether it’s just ‘regular’ dancing.

These silver flapper costumes will shimmer away as you move to the beat and you’ll find yourself the center of attention!

Racy Red 20s Flapper Costumes

You’ll certainly stand out from the crowd wearing a red flapper dress and there is a large selection of red 1920s flapper costumes available to purchase. Here’s just a few that I’ve selected for you to enjoy.

20s Costumes Can Also Be Worn as a Couples Outfit

A flapper and a 20s gangster is a great idea for a couple’s costume. The photo on the top right of the image of a lovely Jazz Age couple is brought to you by Jax House

Flapper Hair Styles

Bobs & Finger Waves

Flappers were known to kick tradition and cut their hair into what were considered to be boyish hair styles such as the bob and Eton crop. There were differences in the bob styles though from the sleek, graduated bob to a curly bob. The finger wave was also a popular way of styling your hair.

If you want to style your hair in a 1920s manner there are lots of videos on YouTube which show how to do a finger wave or else you could buy a 1920s wig. There are lots of different styles of wigs available and I think they really complete the costume.

Flapper Style 1920 Wigs

These wigs are available in different hair colors as well as the ones featured, but I’ve selected three styles which look really great and I’ve chosen a different hair color for each style.

Flapper Costume Accessories Check List

Do you have all of the accessories to complete your gorgeous flapper costume? Let’s have a quick look.

  1. Cigarette Holder – flappers were seen as girls who wore excessive makeup, partied too hard and smoked, but who wants to stain their fingers by holding a cigarette when you can use a cigarette holder? There are some gorgeous cigarette holders available and holding one really adds to your costume and helps transform us right back to the roaring 20s in style!
  2. Headband – feathered, jeweled or sequined headbands (or all of these things on one hair piece!) are a very important part of the flapper costume. A number of the dresses actually do come with a headband, but if yours doesn’t you really should consider adding one. There is an exception and that’s if you have a hat instead, preferably a cloche style.
  3. String of Beads or a Boa – whenever I think of flappers I always think of a long sting of beads, although a feather boa would work fine as well. I’m not sure what it is about these accessories, but the outfit never seems complete without them!

Halloween Costume Ideas – Costumes Beginning with M

Fancy Dress Outfits Starting with M

Costumes that begin with MIf you’re looking for costumes that begin with M for a themed party then I’ve compiled a great list for you from the irrepressible M&Ms to classic costumes like Maid Marion or a Matador. Of course there’s lots more to choose from including some great ones for children of the 80s like Maverick, Madonna and Michael Jackson (yes I know Madonna and Michael Jackson weren’t just in the 80s, but their iconic costumes were!)

I’ve compiled this page with a range of others as I used to attend alphabet parties in my 20s and they were so much fun. I read a few years ago that they were making a comeback so for those of you who draw a blank when you have to come up with ideas for costume party here’s your resource list

NOTE: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases – more information below

Cool Costumes Beginning with M

I’ve put these costume ideas in alphabetical order, I don’t know if that will make it easier for you or not, but it helped me to make sure I didn’t double up on ideas!

  • M&Ms – I love these costumes and if there’s a group of you going to a ‘M’ themed event then you can go as different colored M&Ms which is a very effective group costume.
  • Macbeth
  • Mad Hatter – everyone loves the Mad Hatter and he’s so much fun to dress up as whether you choose the classic version or Johnny Depp’s version.
  • Madame Pompadour – Madame Pompadour was chief mistress to France’s King Louis XV from the 1740s to her death in the 1760s so if you want a historical costume then this would be a great person to dress up as.
  • Madonna – there are lots of great costumes that Madonna has worn, I tend to think of her Desperately Seeking Susan look when I first think of dressing up as her, but you could always wear her pink dress from Material Girl where she was basically copying Madonna or her ‘Like a Virgin’ wedding dress outfit.
  • Mae West – blonde and glamorous actress from Hollywood’s classic years of the 1930s and 40s Mae West was known for her risque double entrendres which means she could be a fun person to dress up as……you could get away with saying all sorts!
  • Mafia man or woman – pinstriped 1930 suits with machine guns or baseball bats.
  • Magenta (Rocky Horror Picture Show)
  • Magician
  • Magistrate
  • Magnum PI – dust off an old Hawaiian shirt and get a moustache and you’re one of Tom Selleck’s most lovable characters.
  • Mahatma Ghandi
  • Maid – From a Victorian scullery maid to a sexy French maid there’s a few different looks you could try out if you go with the idea of a maid. Even a hotel housekeeper costume comes under ‘maid service’ doesn’t it?
  • Maid Marion – I love some of the costumes that are available if you choose to dress up as Maid Marion, in fact if you love Medieval costumes of any description this is a great idea and I have actually written another page devoted to Maid Marion costumes –

Maid Marion Costumes

I always think of Maid Marion as a romantic heroine of a Medieval tale which makes Maid Marion costumes the ultimate renaissance costume for a lady.

  • Majorette
  • Maleficent – it can be fun playing a villain and Maleficent does have a very iconic headdress to make her stand out from the crowd!
  • Malfoy – if you’re a Harry Potter fan then you can even dress up as one of the characters, even if it is Malfoy!
  • Man Eating Shark – this is a fun costume idea that I could see my hubby and a number of his friends wearing!
  • Marathon Runner – If you’ve left your costume to the last minute or you just want to wear something that you can make yourself then this is the one for you. Simply put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, some running shoes and get two bits of paper with a number on them and stick one on your back and one on your front. A sports bottle adds another nice touch and you could also spray a little water onto your t-shirt to emulate sweat if you really wanted to.
  • Marc Anthony
  • Marc Bolan
  • Marge Simpson
  • Marie Antoinette
  • Marilyn Monroe – Marilyn really did have a number of iconic costumes which is why she has her own Marilyn Monroe costume post.

Women’s Deluxe Marilyn White Dress CostumeMarilyn Monroe Hot Pink Costume

  • Marine
  • Mario
  • Marshall aka a sheriff from the wild, wild west
  • Martini Glass – Check out my Martini Costumes post, even your dog can come as a drink we like to serve shaken not stirred!
  • Mary – there are lots of different Mary’s to dress up as from the Virgin Mary to Mary out of the nursery rhyme, Mary had a Little Lamb. Then you have Mary I of England or her cousin Mary Queen of Scots which gives you the chance to wear a Tudor costume. Another popular Mary costume choice is Mary Poppins, or else you could dress up as Mary Quant, the sixties Mod fashion designer.
  • Mash personnel – you can dress up as characters from the television series like Hawkeye, Radar or Hotlips or just dress up as Mash personnel in general.
  • Mask (The)
  • Masked Crusader (yet another name for Batman)
  • Matador, another name for bullfighter in case you’re not sure.
  • Matrix Character – If you’ve still got a Trinity or Neo costume you want to show off then just say you’re a Matrix character, alternatively you could dress in a suit and black sunglasses as Agent Smith yet another Matrix character.
  • Maverick – either from Top Gun or the James Garner character from the old American Western television series.
  • MC Hammer – probably the only time you have a legitimate excuse to wear gold ‘hammer pants’!

MC Hammer Costume

  • Medieval person, dress up in medieval costume as just about anyone you like!
  • Medusa – a great costume for anyone who isn’t afraid of snakes!
  • Meerkat
  • Melisandre – otherwise known as the Red Woman from the hugely popular Game of Thrones.
  • Men in Black – Simply wear a suit and black wayfarers and you’re good to go as one of the Men in Black.
  • Mercenary
  • Merlin
  • Mermaid
  • Mexican bandit
  • Mexican Taco
  • Michael Jackson – there are lots of different MJ costumes to choose from including the Thriller look or the Billie Jean look or his Bad ensemble.
  • Michael Jordan
  • Michonne – from the hit show The Walking Dead
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Military personnel – rather than saying you’re a navy seal, army sarge, airforce pilot just dress up in your favourite military costume and say you’re military personnel and anything else is classified!
  • Milkmaid
  • Mime Artist
  • Minion (from Despicable Me)

Despicable Me Minions Mascot Costume

  • Minister – a cabinet minister or a church minister the choice is yours.
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Minotaur – with the head of a bull and the body of a man this is an unmistakable costume.
  • Minstrel – a medieval musician who composed their own songs, you’ll just need to wear a medieval costume and carry a lute or similar instrument.
  • Miss Piggy – definitely one of my favorite Muppets.
  • Mod
  • Moll (basically a flapper outfit or ladies gangster costume)
  • Monarch Butterfly – I’ve only seen these costumes in the last couple of years and they really are gorgeous.
  • Money – You can buy costumes that are fashioned after money, but this is also one you can make yourself. Cut out a big piece of cardboard and draw on it as though it were a dollar bill and stick it to your outfit. Alternatively just stick lots of Monopoly money all over you.
  • Monk – a monk is a very easy costume to wear as it’s very forgiving if you don’t have quite the right figure! I also like the idea of getting a monk costume as it could double as a Friar Tuck costume as well as a Sheldon Cooper costume (remember the episode where they attended a Renaissance Fair and he got annoyed at the historical inaccuracies?)
  • Monkey
  • Monster – From the Cookie Monster to Frankenstein there are lots of different monsters and costumes to choose from.
  • Moose
  • Morpheus – from the Matrix
  • Morris dancer – a traditional form of English folk dancing Morris dancers have been performing since the Middle Ages.
Mortal Kombat Costume Ideas

Purchase from Halloween Costumes.com

  • Mortal Kombat characters
  • Morticia Addams – from the Addams family, still a popular costume choice which is why they have their very own post – The Addams Family Costume Ideas.
  • Moses
  • Moulin Rouge dancers
  • Mountie – Canada’s finest.
  • Movie Star – think red carpet style if you want to be generic or just choose your favourite actor and dress up as them.
  • Mr Bean
  • Mr Potato Head
  • Mr T – I pity the fool who chooses to dress up as Mr T!
  • Mummy – there are some great costumes that you can buy that give the illusion that you’re wrapped in bandages and I really recommend using them. Years ago I used actual bandages to wrap myself up as a mummy for a fancy dress costume and it was great, until I realized I needed to go to the toilet that was!!
  • Munchkin
  • Munsters – this is another great opportunity for a group costume.
  • Muppet – dress up as any of the Muppets from Kermit to Miss Piggy or from Animal to the Swedish Chef.
  • Musketeer
  • Mustard – there are a couple of different costumes available for mustard from mustard sachets to bottles and they are good, I’ve only seen the bottle ones in real life when a couple at a Halloween event were wearing mustard and ketchup bottles.

Costumes Beginning with G

Costumes Starting with G

Are you looking for costumes beginning with G? I’ve compiled together as many costume ideas as I could find that begin with the letter G – why you might add, well let me tell you about Alphabet Parties.

During my early 20s I was invited to a number of Alphabet Parties – Alphabet Parties are basically a party where you’re given a letter of the alphabet and you have to dress up as something beginning with that letter. I loved these parties I think it’s a great theme for a fancy dress party and so I’ve compiled a number of pages in an attempt to promote the idea so that more people can enjoy the fun.

NOTE: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases – more information below

The page you’ve found today has all of the fancy dress ideas I could think of that begin with the letter G, I’m sure there’s some I’ve missed so I welcome ideas from you in my guestbook at the bottom of the page – have fun in your costume whether you choose a ghost or a go go girl or something completely different.

  • G I Jane
  • G I Joe
  • Gangster – now gangster could mean just about anything in a costume as it does just mean a member of a gang, but whenever I think of a gangster costume I think of the old time gangsters of the 20s with the pinstripe suits and firearms.
  • Gangster Moll – As with the gangster costume above I always think of the 1920 gangster molls for a costume so get out your flapper dress, shake those pearls and don’t forget to pop a pistol into your bag in case things turn ugly!
  • Gardener
  • Gargoyle – depending who you speak to a gargoyle could be an architectural feature on a building to act as a spout or a mythical creature, personally I like to go with the mythological side, but either way it can be a great costume idea. I’ve recently discovered that you can buy a gargoyle costume, but I think it’s a fun diy costume idea. Wear grey clothing and use grey paint on your body, face and hair, some touches of green can be good if it can look like moss. Most gargoyles have a grotesque looking face so a mask is a great idea and there are lots of gargoyle masks available, or use any grotesque looking mask, preferably grey in color.
  • Geisha – in order to properly carry off this costume you do have to remember that make up is essential. Geisha’s use a wax base and then make up to create a white face which then had extra make-up added to give the eyes and mouth effect. For tips on how to apply Geisha make up you can check out – How to Apply Geisha Makeup
  • Gene Simmons – the lead singer of KISS how much fun would this costume be?
  • Genghis Khan
  • Genie

&

&

  • George Washington
  • Georgian Lady or Man – If you love the Georgian or Regency fashion styles from the times of Jane Austin then this could be a great costume idea. A white wig is essential, of course, but what about the actual costumes? I must admit while there are a few ready made Georgian costumes available to purchase the majority of these costumes that I’ve seen have been handmade.
  • Ghost – Ghosts are a great idea for costumes whether you’re an adult or a child, a girl or a boy which is why they have their own post dedicated to cool ghostly outfits….
    Ghost Costumes
When I was younger dressing up as a ghost was the thing to do if you left it until the last minute to sort out your fancy dress costume. There was no going t…
  • Ghostbusters – Ghostbusters were a classic 80s movie and this costume would be just at home at an 80s party as it would a G party or even just to go trick and treating on Halloween with.  Check out my Ghostbusters post for cool costume ideas.
  • Ginger Spice – this outspoken Spice Girl is a popular costume choice, you can get one of Geri’s costumes on my Spice Girl Costume post
  • Gingerbread Man
  • Giraffe
  • Gladiator
  • Glam Rock Singer – this could be a rather generic costume or just dress up as one of your favourite Glam Rock singers from David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust to Gary Glitter, Alice Cooper or more.
  • Glee Cheerleader
  • Gnomes
  • Gods – The Greeks and Romans had a god or goddess for almost every aspect of their lives. Typically their gods (or goddesses) would be dressing in white robes/togas edged with gold or silver trim. Defining which deity you are can be done with accessories for example Diana would carry a bow and arrow. Then there are Norse gods so if you want to give your Thor costume an airing this is your chance!Of course if you can’t decide between the gods available in Greek, Roman or Norse lore then you could always put on a long robe, a white beard and just play the Old Testament version of god.
  • Goldilocks
  • Golfer
  • Gomez – Gomez Addams is a person who needs no introduction and you can find a costume for him on my Addams Family Costume post
  • Gondolier – from the canals of Venice come the singing Gondoliers, gentling manoevering the gondola’s around the waterways of Venice – traditionally dressed in blank trousers, a black and white striped top with a red necktie and red sash acting as a belt, top the costume off with a straw hat featuring a red ribbon.I should mention that when I was in Venice I also saw a few that just wore black trousers, a red and white striped top and a straw hat with red ribbon so…
  • Gorilla
  • Goth
  • Gotham Girl – As you’d suspect a Gotham Girl is from Gotham City, the home of Batman, it’s actually an American Flash Animation series that focused on several of the female characters that hailed from Gotham City. These characters include Batgirl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn. Dress up as either of these powerful women or better yet make this a group costume idea!

&

Harley Quinn Costume Adult Catwoman Costume Poison Ivy Costume

&

    • Grapes – you can purchase your own grape costume in both green or purple, but I know many people have successfully made their own diy grape costume and it’s actually very easy to do.First you’ll need to wear a body suit and then you need to have the lung capacity to blow up a lot of balloons.Simply attach the balloons all over your body suit (making sure they’re all either green or purple or red depending on the type of grape you want to be) and you have a home made bunch of grapes costumeI would also add a pair of the appropriate colored tights or leggings as well.

&

      • Groucho Marx
      • Guinevere
      • Gunslinger – evoke the Wild Wild West with your best cowboy for hire costume!
      • Gypsy – there are a lot of different gypsy costumes available to buy or you can create your own. I had to come up with a costume idea at short notice a few years ago so I chose to dress up as a gypsy. I wore a loose peasant blouse, long skirt and draped a scarf over my head, then I armed myself with some cards and ‘pretended’ to read everyone’s future in the cards – a fun night and easy costume.

Costumes Beginning with F

Fancy Dress Outfits Starting with the Letter F

Fred Flintstone - a cool costume idea beginning with FIf you’re looking for costumes beginning with F for a themed party then I’ve compiled a great list for you from Fred Flintstone to a French Maid.

I’ve compiled this page with a range of others as I used to attend alphabet parties in my 20s and they were so much fun. I read a few years ago that they were making a comeback so for those of you who draw a blank when you have to come up with ideas for costume party here’s your resource list

Cool Costumes Beginning with F

  • Fairy – a classic little girls costume, but there’s also costumes for grown ups as well – I especially think men can dress up as the tooth fairy after the Rock’s performance!
  • Fairy Godmother
  • Fame character – go back to the 80s with leg warmers, leotards and off the shoulder shirts
  • Fat B**stard – A character from Austin Powers, I seem to know a lot of people who enjoy talking like the Fat B**stard so I’m sure they’d love to dress up as him as well.
  • Father Christmas
  • Father Time – Wear long robes for this costume, some people depict him in white robes while others show him in black robes, what all costumes show is a big timepiece hanging around his neck.
  • FBI officer – wear the standard issue black suit and look like a fed or wear regular clothes and just flash your badge if you want to be an undercover agent, just don’t forget to talk into your watch and wear an ear piece.
  • Fester Addams aka Uncle Fester – Uncle Fester, the Addams Family hasn’t been on air for years and yet they’re all instantly recognizable.
  • Fiona (Shrek)
  • Fireman
  • Fisherman – you can dress up in yellow wet weather gear as though you’re a trawler fisherman or else you can wear waders and carry a bag with a few feathers on hooks on it (along with a fishing rod that is) and say you’re a trout fisherman.
  • Flamenco Dancer
  • Flamingo
  • Flapper – there are lots of different Flapper outfits to choose from as well as loads of fun accessories from headbands to long beads, boas or cigarette holders. I love the fashions of the 1920s which is why I love all of the flapper outfits. Check out a whole selection on this page – 1920s Style Flapper Halloween Costumes.

DC Comics Deluxe Muscle Chest The Flash

  • Flash (The) – This superhero has probably gained an even bigger success thanks to the small screen success of the Big Bang Theory where he’s one of Sheldon’s favorite fancy dress outfits.
  • Flight attendant
  • Florence Nightingale – a British nurse from the time of the Crimea war Florence Nightingale is seen as the founder of modern nursing. The outfit you need for this is very much like that of a Victorian scullery maid, including the cap, although rather than the white cotton caps worn by maids, Florence Nightingale’s one was more of a white lace cap. She was known as the lady of the lamp as she would check on her patients at night so getting a lamp to carry would be a great prop for this costume.
  • Flower – A flower is a great costume for if you want a DIY project. Simply wear green for the stem, add face paint the color you want the middle of the flower head to be and then attach the petals around your face (I would use a piece of elastic to run under your chin and over your head. The petals could be made from tissue paper to cardboard or even fabric.
  • Flower Pot Men – Bill and Ben from the old British cartoon.
  • Flower Power Hippie – embrace your inner 60s child with a ‘peace man’ attitude and flowers in your hair! A little outside of the box thinking again for a cool costume idea.
  • Fly
  • Flying Monkey from Wizard of Oz
  • Football – I’ve actually seen costumes for sale for both an NFL football and a soccer ball, both of which do look like a bit of fun.
  • Footballer – American footballer from your favourite team or a soccer player the choice is yours.
  • Fork – I have seen a fork costume which I think is just priceless
