Raven Queen is the daughter of the Evil Queen and the Good King, according to ‘her story’ she is supposed to take her mother’s role as the Evil Queen. Raven, however is more like her father in personality which is why she is the founder of the Rebels. The Rebles are students at Ever After High who are rejecting ‘their story’ and want to follow their hearts and dreams and make their own way in life.

Raven does have one thing in common with her mother, however, and that’s her love of purple especially when it comes to her fashion as you can see with the Raven Queen costume and wig I’ve found for you –

If you want to dress up as a group for Halloween this year (or any other fancy dress event for that matter) then I’ve got some great ideas for you. There’s something really fun with having a group of you dressed as a group and it can make for a great night out for everyone.

Inspiration for group costumes come from just about anywhere – musical groups, television shows, films even everyday life. The hardest thing is to get everyone to agree on the costume idea which is where I come in. I’ve compiled a list of group costume ideas that you can all look through and see if one of them stands out to you all as the perfect one.

Group Costume Ideas Based on Music Groups

There are some music groups/bands who are instantly recognizable and so make a great idea for a group costume, here are some of the ones that spring to mind-

Abba – The 70s pop group were known for their costumes and if you feel like turning into ‘Dancing Queens’ for the night then this is a cool costume idea for a group of 4 (it should be 2 couples, but I’ve seen a few male Agnetha and Frida’s in my time and they’ve been quite funny!).
Kiss – Crack out the face paint and the platform boots for this group costume idea, another great costume idea for a group of four.
The Beatles – The fab four are another cool group costume idea and if there’s 8 of you you could try a ‘Beatles through the ages’ theme with their basin hair cuts and suits through to the longer haired Sergeant Pepper days.
The Spice Girls – For five girls you know that you want to dress up as the Spice Girls, it’s what you ‘really, really want’! This is another fun group costume that is instantly recognizable.
The Village People – This six piece group are one of the groups that several generations recognize straight way and are likely to start people singing earwig disco songs such as Macho Man and YMCA!

ZZ Top Costume Ideas

Perfect for a Small Group of 3

This Texan trio are best known for the beards that two of their members sport – the third member has Beard as a surname so doesn’t actually need to have one!

You actually have a lot of latitude with what you can wear to accompany these beards as ZZ Top have been around for quite a while and have been seen in a few different outfits over that time.

The most well known look was probably the one that coincided with their album Eliminator hitting the mainstream charts for that look you want the two bearded members of the band to be wearing black suits with the non-bearded Mr Beard wearing black trousers with a long black duster coat. All three of them should be sporting hats similar in shape to the one featured in the image below along with some black sunglasses.

Of course another look that their fans are very familiar with sees them in jeans and leather jackets along with either hats (again like the one pictured) or skull caps and their sunglasses.

Personally I think as long as you all wear sunglasses and two of you sport these beards (and to really ‘sell’ it a couple of guitars – Frank Beard is the drummer so don’t have him with a guitar!) it won’t matter what else you wear everyone will know you’re ZZ Top.

You used to be able to purchase these Teletubbie costumes in a set of four which was really cool, but I’m having trouble sourcing a set at the moment so you have to purchase your favorite teletubbies separately.

Group Costume Ideas Based on Movies

Movies are another source of inspiration when it comes to thinking of group costume ideas, from classic movies to more modern ones that are certainly a lot of them to think about. Here are a few that spring to mind

More Group Costume Ideas

There are lots more ideas for group costumes that don’t belong in any of the categories above –

Alice in Wonderland Characters – Someone obviously has to be Alice and then it’s simply a case of choosing the best known characters until everyone in your group has a costume. The bigger the group the more less known the characters that will add to the ‘ensemble’.
Angry Birds – You can get all of the different Angry Birds characters in costume so it’s just a case of everyone choosing their favorites.
Batman, Robin & all the Villains – Make sure that you have Batman and Robin covered and maybe even Alfred and then simply add the villains until everyone in your group is covered – there’s certainly plenty of villains to choose from including the Penguin, the Joker, Poison Ivy etc. Don’t forget the Suicide Squad! Another great group costume idea.
Bavarian Beer Maids & Men – These costumes are also found under Oktoberfest costumes and can be a lot of fun to wear.
Crayons – You can get some great Crayola costumes (although these are designed for ladies) in various colors so if you all chose a different color you can say you’re a box of crayons, but you lost your box!

Ghosts – You can dress up as a group of ghosts and create your very own haunting!
Green Army Men Figures
Guess Who ‘People’ – This is a costume that I’ve seen images of and is definitely in the diy Halloween costume column. If you need instructions check out Homemade Guess Who Characters.
Hip Hop Dance Crew – Whether you go with a Jabbawockeez Halloween costume, Remix Monkeys or a dance crew from any of the popular dance themed movies.
Lego Minifigures
M & Ms – You can actually buy sets of group M&M costumes or you could just buy/make the costumes yourselfs, just make sure you’re all different colors, the room won’t be big enough for two Reds for example!
Mickey, Minnie & Friends
Monster High Pupils – If you’re after this costume ideas for a group of young girls you can check out – MHS Costumes for Girls.
Oompa Loompas – From Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory the Oompa Loompas make a fun costume and I’ve even seen a group of people dressed up as them at an international rugby match in recent years – they certainly stand out on camera!
Pac Man – You can buy a set of group costumes (see below for one example) for this idea yourself – they’re available for sets of 5 or 6 and feature Pac Man himself along with the ghosts.
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
Tetris Blocks – This is a very cool costume ideas that is easy to make at home as it simply requires lots of cardboard boxes, paint and black electrical tape. There are lots of pages that show you how to make them online, here’s one of them – The Diary of Tetris.
The Smurfs
The Tudors – You can dress as a group of Tudor peasants or a group of Tudor aristocrats for a fun costume idea. If you wanted to you could also dress as famous Tudor people whether it’s Henry VIII and all six of his wives or all of the Tudor monarchs together is up to you!
The Wiggles – a pair of black trousers and different colored skivvies are all you need to be The Wiggles and if there’s more than four of you in the group then you can get one of you to dress up as Captain Feathersword, another as Dorothy the Dinosaur and just keep working through these favorite children’s characters until your group are all in fancy dress……..watch out though if you’re too good you might get booked for a child’s birthday party!

Pac Man Group Costume Set

This is a classic group costume idea for six people. Featuring Pac Man himself along with the four ghosts and one ghost that’s ready to be eaten!

The great thing about this costume idea is that all of the costumes are unisex so it really doesn’t matter what the make up of your group is – all male, all female or a mixed bunch.

I do love the idea of this costume as I’m an eighties girl at heart and Pacman has certainly become known as THE video game of the decade (in all honesty I preferred Space Invaders, but Pacman obviously had a better PR person behind them!!)

Sweet Pea Costume – Buy Here!

When I saw the movie Sucker Punch I remember thinking what cool costumes some of the characters wore in the main character’s fantasy world.

It didn’t surprise me in the least when I saw Baby Face, Sweet Pea, Amber, Rocket and Blondie’s costumes available to purchase. I felt that they had an anime look to them – not sure if fans of anime would agree with me though!

The actual movie itself isn’t one I’d watch again as it just didn’t grab me, but the costumes….. well that’s a whole different story.

Let’s have a look at some of the main characters and their costumes.

Baby Doll Costume

Sucker Punch’s Lead Character in Costume

The costumes that stand out for me with all of the characters are their fantasy fighting outfits and for Baby Doll that’s a navy blue costume with a Lolita style sailor boy top and short skirt with over the knee black stockings.

Baby Doll’s costume also needs a weapon to complete it and her weapon of choice is a sword which she’s very adept at using.

Womens Sucker Punch Babydoll Costume

This officially licensed costume includes the top with it’s attached belt, skirt, headpiece and thigh high stockings. What’s not included is the wig or the weapon.

The blonde wig is a great way of getting Baby Dolls hair if you don’t have long blonde hair yourself. If you do then all you need to do is to put it into two pony tails and add the headpiece – perfect!

Baby Doll is the lead character in the movie and it’s her fantasy world that the girls all become fighters in, well actually they first become sex slaves in a brothel, but for the sake of these costumes we’re going to the second fantasy of them as strong fighters.

She befriends four other girls – Sweet Pea and her sister Rocket, Amber and Blondie.

Amber’s Costume

Sucker Punch’s Nod to the Army!

Amber obviously loves a soldier in uniform as she has taken on the Army’s green uniform and added a very sexy touch to them. Add black combat boots, black hot pants and fishnet stockings and a nod to the 1940s with a mini 1940s army hat perched on one side of her head and you have a show stopping costume to wear.

Sucker Punch Amber Costume

The costume includes the jacket with attached top, shorts, chaps, choker and headpiece. What isn’t included is the the weapon (Amber’s weapon of choice is a dagger), wig and boots.

Amber manages to steal one of the essential items needed for their escape plan to work, unfortunately she is shot before their plan can be put into action.

Blondie’s Costume

The first thing you have to know about Blondie is that she isn’t blonde! I’m not sure where the name came from, but Sucker Punch’s Blondie is definitely a brunette!

Unfortunately Blondie can’t keep a secret very well and ends up spilling their escape plan and getting shot in the process. In the fantasy world, however, Blondie had a very ‘kick ass’ costume and wielding an axe in style!

This officially licensed Sucker Punch costume includes Blondie’s bodysuit, hardcore glovettes, belt and thigh high stockings.

Not included is the wig, boots or her weapon of choice.

Where I see a real Lolita touch in Baby Doll’s costume, with Blondie’s outfit the look is a lot more ‘don’t mess with me’ and I must say I think it’s even cooler because of that!

Rocket’s Costume

Sweet Pea’s Sister’s Fighting Costume

Rocket is the spunky sister of Sweet Pea, a bit of a rebellious girl who ran away from home before ending up in the asylum. It is because of her that Sweet Pea is there too because she came looking for her.

Rocket loves her sister and appreciates that she’d do anything for her which I believe is why she sacrificed herself for Sweet Pea so that she could escape and live a life on the outside.

I’m not really sure what I think of Rocket’s fighting costume, it was one of the ones that didn’t really stay with me after the movie, although as I look at this officially licensed one it certainly has something about it – almost like a rebellious punk version of a classic flight attendant’s dress!

The costume includes the dress with attached garters, headpiece, glovettes and belt.

To complete the look you’d need a wig (unless you have short hair that you can style like Rockets), black fishnet stockings and thigh high black boots.

If you want to to be a daring fighter like Rocket you’ll also need to get a knife to wield!

Sweet Pea Costume

Another Sucker Punch Costume

Sweet Pea is a little dubious about the escape plan at first, probably because she’s the more cautious and responsible of the group. As far as fighting costumes go I think her’s is the best and the way she uses her Katana – well I wouldn’t stand in her way!

Sweet Pea certainly seems to have a meatier role that the other three of Baby Dolls friends and she manages to acquire two of the items needed for the escape plan and SPOILER ALERT ends up being the only one to actually escape the asylum.

This costume includes a hooded jacket (personally I think it’s the hooded jacket which gives the outfit the something extra that makes it my favorite), brief shorts, glovettes and thigh high stockings.

Not included are Sweet Pea’s weapon and wig.

A Great Group Costume Idea

Although all of these costumes are great by themselves, they are also a really cool group costume idea, if there are more than five of you then you can add other characters from the movie such as Blue and Dr Gorski.

So much of the Monster High characters ‘looks’ comes from their wigs that you really can’t leave it out.

Clawdeen Wolf’s wig is long and brown in color with contrasting red streaks in it (quite wolf like in fact!). This wig perfectly captures the black and orange (sorry I should say marigold!) colors in Skelita’s hair. No one can doubt who you are if you wear this wig and have skeleton tights and gloves on and sugar skull inspired make up on your face.

Now Skelita’s actual hair is a lot longer than this wig, but I think this wig is still a perfect way to complete the look of this fun loving Monster High student.

Spectra Vondergeist Wig

As you can see Spectra’s wig is long straight and very purple – the color of royalty no less! Her dark purple hair has highlights in a lighter purple and this mane of hair really makes Spectra stand out – something she’s very happy about!

When it comes to creating a Spectra Vondergeist costume you have to make sure that it’s made from light material for floating around in, but add some metal as she likes to be able to rattle (she does come from a family of ghosts after all!) around.

If your daughter has a fairy, ballerina or princess costume preferably with a handkerchief hemline then you might be able to turn that into a Spectra costume by adding a few chains and then adding some inexpensive grey plastic shower ring hoops to a black belt to give the illusion of a metal belt.

Monster High Twyla Wig

Twyla’s gorgeous hair is a pale green with blue and purple stripes that cascades down her back and around her shoulders just like this wig does. It’s hard to imagine that someone with hair as beautiful as this can be shy, but luckily Twyla has Howleen Wolf as one of her best friends and she makes sure that Twyla doesn’t miss out on any fun.

This wig would be perfect to finish off the officially licensed Twyla costume or even for you to wear over your own Twyla outfit. Simply don a pair of pale grey/silver or white tights and wear it over a dress in dark blue or black with accents in the pastel green of her hair. Like many of her fellow students at Monster High she really suits a tutu style skirt, but as long as it’s feminine she’ll love it as she does look quite the ‘little lady’ most of the time.

Inflatable Halloween Coolers – A Practical Halloween Decoration

Keep your drinks cool in spooky style this Halloween with a cool inflatable Halloween cooler. There are lots of great inflatable coolers available which do a great job of keeping drinks cool, but these coolers also double up as Halloween decorations.

Coffins and skeletons are particularly popular Halloween decorations and so I think either of these coffin coolers would be fantastic.

Personally I always like to use a cauldron or two at Halloween, usually with punch over dry ice for an eerie effect, but I think a cauldron cooler might be a good idea as well. I particularly like the cauldron cooler with the flame garland – very nice!

You don’t have to use an inflatable cooler of course, but they are very practical and best of all once your Halloween celebrations are over they can be deflated and packed away for another year – a lot easier than some other coolers.

I also like the idea of using an ice bowl inside of a pumpkin (I’ve seen that in lots of places online), but it seems a lot of work and I’m not sure it would actually end up looking quite as cool as some of these coolers.

Now there’s only one question for me to ask myself – which cooler would I like. What about you, have you found a cool inflatable cooler for your Halloween celebrations yet?

One final word – don’t forget to add a few ‘surprises’ in the ice when you fill up your cooler. Plastic spiders or eyeballs are always a fun find when you’re grabbing a bottle or can out of the cooler and adds to the ambiance very nicely!
